Prolactin

What it tests for:
Prolactin is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that primarily regulates breast development and milk production. However, elevated or abnormal levels can also affect fertility, menstrual cycles, libido, and testosterone production.

Why it matters:

• High prolactin levels (hyperprolactinemia) may cause irregular periods, low sex drive, infertility, or unexplained nipple discharge
